Yes, Elections do have Consequences
By Suzanne Kupelian, P.E.
What a mess we are in.
Shutting down information from our president is despicable. The liberals are now talking about doing the same to conservative small businesses, and eventually, individuals. They have all this information about you stored as a result of the “Patriot Act.” Of course we were all told when the Patriot Act was passed that the information would never be used for nefarious purposes.
The logic behind this is all quite clear if you have been listening. All conservatives (individuals and businesses) will be deprived of the means to access bank financing, collect/process compensation for their services/products. They will have no way to support themselves, except to work for the government or big business (which will have essentially been nationalized), so they can either work for the government, or be paid a “subsistence allowance” (welfare) by the government. So people will be able to work for the government or “not-work” for the government.
Either way, entrepreneurial activities will be squashed, innovation will essentially cease, and the economy will fall flat on its face.
Elections have consequences. Not this election. We tried in 2020, but too little, too late. This all started with George Bush (41), and was accelerated at an exponential rate with Barak Obama. Some of us knew where this all was headed, even back then, but no one was listening.
It is going to be very difficult to reverse this state of affairs now. However, there are 31 states with Republican legislatures. These states should enact election reform statutes.
Our first step should be to support and strengthen our local governments and our schools. This means we canvass our current local elected officials. If they are not rock solid, they must be primaried. We must search for electable candidates with strong morals and ethics, and primary every questionable incumbent. This will require investment of time and dollars, but the consequences of inaction are truly frightening.
First, we need to recall or impeach all socialist/progressive local and state legislators. Once conservative/constitutional state legislators are installed, enact election reform legislation, which should include, as a minimum:
- Voter ID – proof of citizenship
- One-day voting on election day, in person
- Paper ballots
- NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (Except for deployed Armed Services personnel and pre-approved voters with stringent approval process, including redundant signature checks)
- Election observers – legislation should specify procedures that must be followed to allow poll watchers meaningful access to ballots being collected and processed
- Legislatures have control over ANY changes in voting laws (not governors, judges, secretaries of State, etc.); changes must be passed by legislature a designate number of days before election day and all registered voters should be notified.
Summary
