Border Bill
By Suzanne Kupelian, P.E.
Response to Kamala’s repeated allegation that Trump tanked a bi-partisan border control bill:
Cackles 2 keeps saying that Trump was calling members of Congress to tell them not to vote in favor of the immigration legislation/border bill, “so he would have something to run on.” Trump is a private citizen, not a member of Congress, or any other elected, appointed, or hired government official or, and he does not decide how congressional members will vote.
- First of all, it was not a “Border Bill,” but a mis-named Ukraine assistance bill; $14 billion was allocated for border security while $60 billion was allocated for Ukraine.
- The bill would have codified “catch-and-release” into law.
- It would have let in 1.8 million illegal aliens per year.
- It would have increased funding for more border patrol officers, but the problem is not that we do not have enough border patrol officers, but that Harris and Biden will not close the border, which would completely solve the problem and negate the need for additional border patrol officers.
- It would fund sanctuary cities and states.
- It would fund the NGO’s now facilitating entrance of the illegal aliens into the United States.
- It would fund immigration lawyers for an illegal aliens.
- It would fund/provide work permits for illegal aliens.
- It would provide no legal authority for deporting illegal aliens.
- It would fund completion of the southern border wall only if POTUS formally requested use of allocated funds for that purpose prior to 2027.
- Although there were some minor improvements in asylum screening, overall it would make the asylum screening process less effective.
These are the reasons why a Trump discouraged passing of the bill.
